Abstract
This article examines how a certified nursemidwifery practice used evidence-based practice data from 2000 to 2001 to influence health care policy in a managed care environment. Managed care has assumed an integral role in our ability to care for women and families. It affects not only our ability to directly provide care but also indirectly to provide care. Managed care is driving local, state, and federal policies. Health care policies can be changed through improved outcomes, cost-effective care, and good consumer relations.
