Abstract
A basic understanding of the legislative process, or how ideas become the law of the land, is indispensable for political action. With a solid knowledge of how the system works, nurses are able to determine when and how to summon up their collective voices. This article is intended as a primer for any nurse who wants to learn and understand the legislative, lawmaking process at the federal level. In addition, information will be provided that details which committees in Congress are responsible for bills that pertain to health issues.
