The Tourangeau–Rasinski model of the question–answer process can inform how the authors conduct qualitative interviews by improving reflexivity. The authors outline this model and show that it both complements the literature on best practices in qualitative methods and provides a new tool to inform reflexivity. The authors use examples from our interviews with elite athletes to show how the model can improve reflexivity and discuss the implications of this model for qualitative interviews.
