Abstract
Public administration programs aim to mirror the field’s dynamism and address evolving challenges impacting communities. However, emerging technologies, like AI, raise questions about MPA programs’ ability to equip students with practical skills to meet future demands. As programs consider how to adapt their curricula, one approach suggests focusing on a skill-based curriculum aligned with local challenges, such as data analytics, AI, and graphic design. This study examines the lessons learned from the [University] MPA program’s integration of specific skills within its research methods courses to address market needs in [State]’s public sector. The two surveys of students and alumni explore skills needed for public sector roles, providing insights to inform curriculum adjustments to better prepare students for employment. The findings aim to enhance both teaching quality and student learning outcomes, supporting continuous curriculum improvement in response to public administration’s evolving demands.
