Abstract
The primary aim of this pilot study was to explore the impact of a summer bridge experience on clinical psychology graduate school applicants who were “on the cusp” of meeting traditional admissions criteria. The Bridge for Success (B4S) summer experience was an 8-week offering of psychology courses and mentorship that was designed to both broaden access to graduate school and provide academic and social support for nontraditionally admitted students so they could remain successful throughout their enrollment. It was expected that the B4S participants and a control group of traditionally admitted students would perform at academically comparable levels following the B4S experience. Findings suggest that the B4S summer bridge experience is an effective alternative path to clinical psychology graduate school for applicants who may not meet traditional admissions criteria.
