The use of mechanical and dielectric spectrometry for macrostructural studies (cure, ageing, moisture absorption, etc.) of polymers and composite materials is described. Dynamic relaxation parameters including the most probable relaxation time, and the width and symmetry of the spectrum are proposed for the quantitative evaluation of the structure. The analogy between mechanical and dielectric relaxation phenomena is discussed.
