The increasing product quality requirements demand the further development of production processes. Therefore, mixing processes of different extruders have been evaluated for the continuous incorporation of liquids into compounds. Using less energy and generating less heat build-up in the mix resulted in a homogeneous compound; up to 8 weight% of liquid can be incorporated. Correlations are found between the pressure in the barrel, the amount of liquid additives and the homogeneity of the compound.
