Abstract
This the first paper of a series related to physical chemistry of foaming, cellular structure, mechanical and physical properties, processing and application of filled and reinforced foamed plastics. Part 1 deals with several general introductory discussions regarding classification of foamed polymers and fillers for foams, both interstructural and instrastructural ones; and the place of filled foamed plastics in the family of polymer foams. A short historical review of filled foamed plastics’ industrial developments is presented. Then the brief main technical concepts and industrial developments are presented. The principal approaches and concepts related to academic and applied problems of filled and reinforced foamed polymers are formulated.
