This paper attempts to define all the major issues facing the European flame retardants industry in a single review. It reviews European Community (EC) Directives, national legislation in the EC Member States, developments in the rest of Europe, and the work of international bodies. General issues such as statistics and communications are described. The paper also outlines the role and work of EFRA.
