Abstract
This paper gives a brief summary of the properties of ENR which are of particular interest in damping applications. Guidance on general compounding is given and detailed information on the variation of resilience (or damping) with hardness achieved by variation of carbon black type and level, together with data showing how this relationship is modified by addition of plasticisers and by blending with PVC. Finally, the properties of expanded rubber made from ENR and blends with PVC are discussed. Possible applications are listed.
