The purpose of the paper is to investigate the development of transverse cracking of cross-ply laminates, subjected to uniaxial tensile loading. The development differs according to quasi-static tests or fatigue tests. The two type of tests are considered. In the case of quasi-static tests, the investigation of transverse cracking is reduced to a two-dimensional analysis and can be implemented by an analytical model. The problem is more complex in the case of fatigue tests. However, the previous analytical model can be extended in this case.
