Abstract
This paper discusses the issue of plastic recycling in the European automotive industry, specifically the plastic waste generated through end-of-life vehicles (ELV). It also explores the existing relationship between engineering materials selection, and what are considered to be the critical issues currently present in the automotive recycling field.
Research found that although a new set of recycling technologies has been developed, an increase in the protection of the environment might end in reduced margins for the automobile manufacturers, in addition to a rise in the costs of recycling.
