Viscoelastic studies are reviewed for epoxy resins before cross-linking. The oligomers of the diglycidylether of bisphenol-A (DGEBA) are the most popular epoxy resins. This article summarises and discusses viscoelastic properties, such as the melt viscosity, the dielectric relaxation time, and the ionic conductivity, for the uncured DGEBA oligomer. Relationships between these viscoelastic properties are also discussed for the oligomer in comparison with a monomer or a polymer on the basis of free volume concept.
