Abstract
The position of lighting education in the UK today is reviewed with particular reference to the needs of engineering students, and changes, both desirable and inevitable, are indicated Lighting can be studied at the present time in courses that can be divided into seven groups ranging from university courses with a lighting content to training courses run by lighting companies. The availability of courses is determined by the changing educational structure and by influences outside the educational field. The pattern of lighting education in the future will be determined within the emerging structure and by factors such as the greater part being played by user organizations.
