The Lighting of Gloucester Cathedral by the “Designed Appearance” Method

Abstract

This paper describes the application of the method of “Designed Appearance” lighting design to a large and complex interior, consisting of several interconnecting spaces. The design is described in detail, from the initial conception to the final specification, trials, modifications and verification. Special lighting equipment designed for the Cathedral is described.
