High-speed on/off valve (HSV) generates noise and vibration due to high-frequency collisions between internal components and fluid pressure impacts. In order to reveal the principle and characteristics of HSV noise generation, this study establishes the transient acoustic field model of HSV in motion by considering the coupling effects of electromagnetic force, fluid force, and spring force. First, the characteristics of HSV excitation force with spool displacement are analyzed. Second, the vibration characteristics of the valve under the excitation force are analyzed, and the most intense part of the vibration is identified. Finally, the sound field of the HSV is modeled using the vibration response as a boundary condition, and the transient characteristics of the noise are analyzed. This characteristic can provide an indirect measure of the spool displacement. The experimental results show that the difference between simulation and experiment is less than 3%.
