Abstract
A model of a hybrid marine engine exhaust gas scrubber is constructed using sea-trial data and a chemical process simulator. The model can describe the performance of the scrubber under both open-loop and closed-loop operation. Predictions for solubility and reaction equilibria are validated using published data. The model results are consistent with the sea-trial data. Sensitivity analyses are conducted to determine the effect of various operating parameters on the scrubbing performance for both open-loop and closed-loop operation.
