Abstract

The Editors are delighted to announce that the winner of the prize for the best research article published in volume 22 of the European Journal of Political Theory is ‘Demos (a)kurios? Agenda power and democratic control in ancient Greece’, by Matthew Landauer. In his article, Landauer demonstrates the importance of agenda-setting powers for the theory and practice of ancient Greek democracy, and in doing so offers a critical vantage point from which the democratic credentials of modern democracies can be reassessed. The prize was judged by a selection of the journal's Associate Editors, who were especially impressed by the erudition and analytical precision of the article, and the relevance of its findings for debates on both ancient and modern democracy. The prize is dedicated to the memory of Carlo Argenton and is generously funded by his family.
