Abstract
Planning Theory is a vehicle for exploring diverse views of the nature and purpose of planning. In this issue we present two reviews of an account of developments in European spatial planning. The book being reviewed is very much an insider's account, and we felt there would be value in juxtaposing reviews by scholars within and outside the European Union; reviewers who also had distinctive, and rather different views of the nature of planning, and the role of plans within that process.
