This essay considers screen testing by examining three cinematic and para-cinematic texts. Although quite different in terms of their form, context and application, these screen tests all function as a threshold, a point of relationship between a question and an answer. The authors consider the kinds of questions raised by screen tests and how these questions might be answered.
