Abstract
This article addresses a real-time optimal control problem of diesel engines. A stochastic model predictive control scheme is presented for the torque control problem of diesel engines where the driver’s demand torque is predicted using traffic information, and the probability distribution is exploited to represent the stochastic characteristics in the driver’s behavior. It will be shown by the simulation validation that the proposed scheme achieves much better performance of emission and energy consumption.
