The combination of epistemic responsibility from moral philosophy and narrative theory provides a foundation for establishing literature-based standards for judging the quality of literary journalism. The application of these theories to the work of Polish journalist Ryszard Kapuscinski provides an elaboration of standards to which other literary journalists can be held. These literary standards can accommodate the demands of journalistic integrity, yet allow a broader range of creativity essential to good literature.
