Abstract
This study compares the performance of various heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) arrangements in eliminating pollutants in working environments in Taiwan. Applying the Reynolds’ average Navier Stokes (RANS) equations using the conventional κ-ε turbulence model, the airflow phenomena of various ventilation routes are evaluated. Taking the concentration of carbon dioxide and the air change rate as evaluation factors, the simulation results are used to identify the vent arrangements which optimise the ventilation efficiency. The current results should be a valuable reference for designers involved with the design of healthy and energy-saving work environments.
