Optimization techniques are applied in order to find geometrical solutions for coils used in superconducting accelerator dipole magnets. Relevant coil geometry parameterization and field computation methods are presented. Performances of some deterministic, stochastic and multistage optimization algorithms are discussed and preliminary results are shown.
