Abstract
Amorphous Fe86_ x B14Fr x (2 « x « 8 at.%) alloys were prepared by rapid solidification process in order to investigate the effects of Pr-additive on the magnetostriction of amorphous Fe-B alloys. As the Pr content increases in the as-prepared amorphous Fe86_ x B14Pr x alloys, the saturation magnetostriction constant, λs increases to 50 ppm despite of decrease of saturation magnetization. The saturation magnetostriction constant of amorphous Fe84B14Pr2 alloy annealed at 300° C for 2 h increases to 70 ppm. The power loss and ac permeability (E = 50 kHz, Bm = 0.1 T) of the annealed amorphous Fe84B14Pr2 alloy are 15 W/kg and 5.5 χ 103, respectively.
