Abstract
We have shown that magnetoelastic coefficients can be obtained by magnetoelastic wave amplitude and permeability measurements. This indirect method was applied to investigate magnetoelastic behaviour of a Co-P multilayer down to the liquid nitrogen temperature. The Co-P overlayers were obtained by electrolytic deposition and were composed of magnetic layers separated by non-magnetic thin films. The comparison with an amorphous single layer and a polycrystalline material is also reported. In multilayers a slight decrease of stress sensitivity with temperature had been observed which is explained as an effect of the decrease of the magnetic exchange among the magnetic layers.
