Abstract
The RFEC (remote field eddy current) technique is a presently used testing method for the inspection of tubes such as pipelines. In this paper, the electromagnetic field analysis of RFEC effects is carried out by means of an equivalent network model. The proposed model subdivides the system into coaxial rings and schematizes it via a suitably formed equivalent electric network. The knowledge of the loop currents of this network allows the current distribution in the inspected tube to be found and the electromagnetic fields around the test system to be calculated. The proposed model has been tested by comparison between experimental and calculated data.
