A parametric study of a multistage magnetic liquid seal (MMLS) is carried out on a chosen diester based MMLS. A general computer programme is developed to study the various performance parameters of such a seal. Based on the study, certain conclusions are drawn regarding the choice of magnet and pole piece materials, and the focusing structure of the seal.
