Abstract
Analyses of the eddy current losses in the EURATOM LCT coil casig (the TEAM workshop problem 14) using two computer codes of EDDYCUFF and EDDY3D are presented. The EDDYCUFF code employs the finite element circuit method with the thin non-magnetic conductor approximation. The EDDY3D code analyzes 3D transient eddy currents by the finite element method using the edge-elements and this calculation is carried out mixing linear hexahedral and prism elements. Calculated mean power losses by both codes are within the range of the measured value. The loss calculated by EDDYCUFF is 10% smaller than that of EDDY3D due to the skin current effect.
