Abstract
Over the past few years several research groups have been investigating the effectiveness of employing either vector potentials or field variables for the solution of the general 3-D eddy current problem (low frequency limit). A number of formulations, some closely related, have been established. The aim of this paper is to present the theory and validation of a general method using vector potentials applicable to problems over the entire frequency spectrum. Results will be given for a range of problems using a general purpose computer code based on the finite element method.
