Abstract
Theoretical and experimental studies are carried out to clarify the effect of a transverse and longitudinal magnetic fields on the oscillatory flow characteristics in a pipe. The experimental data show that the effect of applied magnetic field on the oscillating pressure in the pipe depends strongly on the applied field direction and enhanced by using the pipe with long orifice. Theoretical analysis by taking into account the particle aggregate explains qualitatively the experimental results and suggests the limitation of a rigid spheroid model for the particle aggregate.
