Abstract
This paper reviews the progress in computational electromechanics in the recent decades from a high level point of view. While highlighting the turning points in the progress of this field in the past, simultaneous technological developments in the other related fields, which will serve as a launching pad for the next generation of computational tools in electromechanics, are enumerated. Examples of an existing finite element package and its application to a specific problem are used to demonstrate potential implications of the new technology in engineering design.
