This paper presents an approximate method of magnetic characteristic in any direction and the application of this approximate method. The approximate method is used in the case where the magnetic characteristics in the x-, y- and z-directions are given by Bx=fx(Hx), By = fy(Hy) and Bz= fz(Hz). Then, we analyze the flux distribution for the laminated core of a transformer by the three-dimensional finite element method using the approximate method of magnetic characteristic.
