Abstract
In this paper, a dynamic condensation method has been applied to the model reduction of a television transmission tower. The natural frequencies, the corresponding modes and the dynamic responses used for condensation can be obtained from finite element analysis of the original structure or from vibration testing. All the models presented have been condensed into five degrees of freedom (DOF) from a 40 DOF model of a TV tower. Comparisons between the performance of the models produced by the dynamic condensation procedure and that produced by the Guyan method are then conducted.
