Abstract
The Finite element method is applied for the calculation of temperature fields in concrete filled steel tubes under fire. A theoretical model that calculates the deformations and strength of a column subjected to fire and its fire resistance is described in this paper. A comparison between results calculated using this model and the results of tests shows good agreement. Based on the theoretical model, the influences of the changing strengths of the materials, diameter, steel ratio and slenderness ratio on the fire resistance are discussed.
