Abstract
In this paper, a synthetic discrete method, which combines the merits of both finite element method and Ritz method, is presented for the analysis of elasto-plastic seismic response of tall steel framed-tube systems. The generalized column element and generalized beam element are correspondingly established. Using this proposed method, the computing degree of freedom of the system is considerably reduced and the calculating efficiency is greatly increased so that the method is able to be implemented on both desktop and notebook computers and possesses extremely high precision.
