• Paediatric nurse managers in District General Hospitals often have no pertinent support network
• Regular meetings between managers and educationalists can reduce the theory/practice divide
• Clinical supervision can take place across Trust and educational boundaries in paediatrics
• Benchmarking can improve practice and provide support networks
