The book by ANNE PARSONS entitled Belief, Magic, and Anomie, published post humously, is a collection of papers compiled by her colleagues. It is selectively reviewed here with a particular insistence on the Italian family described as the nexus of cultural traits, psychological complexes, and psyclaopathological trends. It affords an inspiring illustration of a potential synthesis of anthropology and psychoanalysis.
