Abstract
Many studies tend to show that cultural deprivation plays an important part in depressing intellectual performance. In that respect, P. MOFFITT, B. NURCOMBE, and M. PASSMORE, and A. McNEILLY relate a rural preschool program which seems to have determined marked gains in terms of language development and visual-motor performance among aboriginal and white children living in an Australian community. Balinese folk psychiatry is briefly described by S. R. DEAN and D. THONG, with an evaluation of the social and therapeutic virtues of native treatment of mental illness.
