Abstract
H. B. M. MURPHY and A. C. RAMAN carried out a twelve-year follow-up of all patients diagnosed as schizophrenic in 1956 and first admitted to the hospital in Mauritius in that year. A comparison of the findings obtained with a British study using the same base year seems to indicate that patients labeled as schizo phrenic in Mauritius have a better chance of complete social recovery than patients so labeled in Britain.
