Abstract
Four papers in this section deal with cultural features of Australian aborigines and psychopathology noted in them as a result of rapid cultural change. A study by J. MONEY and his associates concerns itself with sex training and traditions in Arnhem Land. The study headed by G. N. BIANCHI describes a hypochondriacal syndrome seen in aborigine dispensary patients. B. NURCOMBE and his co-workers studied addiction to petrol inhalation and inhalation psy chosis in aborigines. I. H. JONES reports on stereotyped aggression in a group of Australian Western Desert aborigines. A fifth paper, an article by B. G. BURTON-BRADLEY, presents problems which psychiatrists are likely to face in their interaction with government legal agencies in developing countries. He reviews a series of cases from New Guinea of amok, check forgery, and copro phemia to illustrate both the contribution to psychiatric knowledge by jurists and the contribution to jurisprudence by psychiatrists in developing countries.
