Abstract
RIN and his co-workers report on research concerning psychophysiological reactions of a rural and suburban population in Taiwan. They studied (a) the prevalence of these reactions in a sample population, and (b) the occurrence of psychophysiological symptoms and disorders in relation to socio-environmental factors. YAP, who has been for many years interested in culture-bound reactive syndromes, describes from the vantage point of the Far Eastern observer the nature of these disorders and proposes a classification of them.
