Abstract
Psychiatric observations made in children attending the Nur Manzil Psychi atric Center at Lucknow, U. P., are presented by E. HOCH. A breakdown of the patients examined according to diagnostic categories is given and socio- cultural factors relevant to each diagnostic category are discussed. Delinquent eldest sons constitute a significantly high proportion of the children who attended the Center. Examples of the children in whom the delinquent be havior was attributable to epilepsy are reported and the relevance of Indian childrearing practices to delinquency is discussed in general. GAITONDE attempts to demonstrate that psychoanalytic psychotherapy and Hindu philosophy have many basic features in common.
