Despite their key role, few nurses receive specialist training in the management of menopausal women. Both community and hospital based nurses could have an effective impact. Nurses can provide information about the menopause and treatment options and support and supervise women starting and continuing therapy. Some of the training courses and literature available to UK nurses are detailed in this review. Future perspectives are discussed.
