Abstract
The diffusion bonding behaviour of CoCrNi and CoCrFeNi alloys (concentrated solid solution alloys) with 316 stainless steel (316SS) at relatively low temperatures (800 °C, 0.65 Tm) was investigated. A comprehensive analysis of the microstructure, diffusion behaviour, mechanical properties, and solid solution stability was carried out. The CoCrNi/316SS joints have superior interfacial quality, a wider interdiffusion zone, and stronger mechanical properties than the CoCrFeNi/316SS joints because in ternary CoCrNi alloys, the diffusion of iron is enhanced by the tendency to form a stable FCC solid solution, which improves joint quality and stability.
