Abstract
This study aimed to examine the factors affecting the resilience levels of primary caregivers of individuals with stroke using a mixed-methods approach. Semi-structured interviews were carried out to explore the factors influencing resilience among caregivers. Demographic form, Zarit Caregiver Burden Scale, Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale, Occupational Balance Questionnaire, Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support, and Perceived Stress Scale were applied to caregivers. Factors affecting the resilience of caregivers are occupational balance (β = 1.58, p = 0.002), perceived social support (β = 1.01, p = 0.001), patient’s age (β = −0.20, p < 0.001), disease duration (β = −1.90, p = 0.038) and care burden (β = −0.31, p < 0.001). The R-squared value of the model was 0.583, and qualitative findings indicated that difficulties in managing daily life, coping skills, emotional regulation, and health-related factors impacted caregiver resilience. This study highlights the significant effects of occupational balance, social support, and caregiving burden on resilience.
