Abstract
We sincerely thank those individuals who have served as a Guest Editor and/or Peer Reviewer for Vascular Medicine in the past year (September 1, 2023 through August 31, 2024), and we hereby acknowledge their valuable service to our Journal.
One of the greatest assets of Vascular Medicine is our multi-disciplinary pool of expert Peer Reviewers, many of whom are vascular medicine specialists. VMJ sends hundreds of papers out for external review each year, and we rely heavily on our Editorial Board and additional Peer Reviewers to evaluate these papers and provide detailed comments. We take pride in obtaining timely, high quality, thoughtful reviews as a service to our Authors. Guest Editors assist in overseeing the peer review and decision process in the case of a conflict of interest (institutional or other) with our editorial leadership.
There were 269 individuals who served as a Peer Reviewer during the past year, all of whom are listed below. A total of 631 reviews were completed. The Editors rate each review for quality and timeliness on a scale of 1 to 3, and most reviews earn a 2.50 or higher rating.
The “Blue Ribbon Peer Reviewers” are recognized for their most outstanding contributions to the peer review process for our Journal during the preceding year. During the 2023-24 cycle, 13 reviewers completed the most reviews, accepting approximately 80% of invitations and receiving a rating of 2.75 or higher. Approximately 17% of all peer reviews for Vascular Medicine completed during the past year were by this dedicated group. Special thanks to these individuals for going above and beyond the call of duty.
In addition, the first ever Peer Reviewer of the Year award goes to Dr. Bruce Gray for extraordinary contributions to the Journal and the peer review process during the 2023-24 period. The Journal appreciates the time and effort he invests in each review, providing highly relevant comments in a timely manner.
