Abstract

As the Society for Vascular Medicine continues to grow and develop, it relies more and more on the work of talented members through the Society’s many committees. Committee service is a great way to contribute to the community of vascular medicine – there are many benefits:
It can expand your circle of influence.
You can develop and enhance personal communications and leadership skills.
It gives you a sense of belonging and ownership of where the Society is heading.
It can broaden your perspective on the field.
It can broaden your network of peers.
It can give you access to mentors and help you identify protégés.
Committee appointments are made by the President and are usually 3 years in duration. Appointments are made with these important considerations in mind:
A balanced geographic distribution.
A balanced representation of practice areas.
Inclusion of both younger and more mature practitioners.
Representation of a variety of experience levels.
Diversity in terms of age, gender, ethnicity, etc.
Volunteer leadership is important to the continued success of the Society for Vascular Medicine. Watch for additional information on committee activities.
