Abstract
Tourist satisfaction has traditionally been considered an excellent predictor of tourism expenditure during their trips. The relationship posited was that the higher the level of satisfaction, the greater the level of tourism expenditure. In addition, cultural tourists make up a segment with high levels of expenditure, so this research aims to conduct a more in-depth analysis of expenditure and satisfaction in Úbeda and Baeza, two World Heritage Cities. To do this, the initial budget set by tourists before starting their trip is taken into account, observing whether they have stayed within this budget or overspent. It is also suggested that spending influences satisfaction, contrary to the findings of previous analyses. Using factor analysis and discriminant analysis, we show that tourists who overspend (who exceed their budget) have a lower level of satisfaction.
