An assessment of the introduction of healthcare assistants into primary healthcare

Abstract

Although healthcare assistants have been deployed in secondary healthcare for a number of years, their use in primary healthcare is quite recent. A nurse practitioner reviews the practical difficulties encountered and suggests strategies for ensuring patient safety is maintained.
